Nanudi's Story: Discovering a "joyful and meaningful life"

Nanudi is 20 years old and has been handicapped since childhood. As a young child, she would sit and drag herself until she learned to walk. Like her parents, who work as construction laborers, she and most of her siblings never went to school and were illiterate.

“I was ridiculed in my village for my dwarfism and handicap. That is why I used to stay mostly indoors. I was very afraid to meet people..."

One day, a friend told Nanudi's parents about the Barli Institute and they decided to enroll her. Nanudi is currently in Barli's six month training and is blossoming into her potential. She is determined to learn reading and writing and is excelling at stitching and tailoring.

"...The nurturing, loving environment at Barli Institute has instilled new confidence in me. I have come out of my shell and now live a joyful and meaningful life. Learning new skills and a positive attitude has changed my outlook on life.” - Nanudi

After graduation, Nanudi wants to set up a stitching shop in her village and motivate other girls to find their path in life. Her parents are eager to support her. Her father says, "I was very worried about my daughter, but... now I am very assured after seeing the new confidence in her."
