Lucas, 14, has been part of Monte Carmelo Association (AMC) since he was six, following in the footsteps of his older brothers. Through AMC’s art workshops, he discovered his passion for dance at just eight years old. Now, he is a member of a dance company, performing at festivals and honing his skills in urban dance. His talent and dedication recently earned him the "Young Talent" award from the Porto Feliz City Council.
"When I dance, I feel peace and joy, and I know that my art inspires other children and young people both inside and outside Associação Monte Carmelo." Lucas shares. "At one school performance, about thirty kids stopped me, eager to learn my moves. That moment made me so happy."
His mother, Gislene, recognizes that the work developed by Monte Carmelo Association has been of utmost importance in his development: "He was honored as Young Talent, it was a very strong emotion for us parents who need to work and can have a place where our son can stay and learn many virtues, many good things to pass on from generation to generation. And I am blessed to have a son who is responsible, dedicated, truthful, humane, and upright, but I owe all of this to the professionals, educators, collaborators, and even those who volunteer, because if it weren't for each one of them, my son wouldn't be this boy who makes me very proud. My eternal thanks to AMC for everything, always. The word that defines from the bottom of my heart is Gratitude."
With the unwavering support of his family and the guidance of AMC’s educators, Lucas continues to grow, not just as a dancer but as a role model. His story is proof that when young people have access to opportunities, they can achieve their dreams while uplifting those around them.
